YEAR 3 FAITH TOUR
Last week Year 3 attended the faith tour and looked around three different places of worship- a mosque, the Gurdwara and a church. Each and every one of these places was fascinating to learn about.
Firstly we stopped at The Gurdwara, where the Guru told us all about the ten different Gurus in the religion of Sikhism. He showed us the 5 K’s which are physical symbols worn to represent that someone has dedicated themselves to a life of devotion to their religion.
The five Ks are:
- Kesh (uncut hair)
- Kara (a steel bracelet)
- Kanga (a wooden comb)
- Kaccha - also spelt, Kachh, Kachera (cotton underwear)
- Kirpan (steel sword)
At the Mosque, after removing our shoes and covering our heads, the Iman told us all about the five pillars that every Muslim lives by and showed us the rooms that are used for prayer, gatherings and learning. He explained how Muslims pray and explained its importance.
Lastly, at the church, we were allowed to walk around and make discoveries from looking at the artefacts and the amazing stained glass windows. Some of us even got a chance to wear the vicars’ robes.
Have a look HERE at some photos from the day :)
This was such a lovely day for us and 3D will be showing and telling some of their learning in their assembly.
