POTIONS AND CLAY

Over the last two weeks we have been learning about instructions in English.

We have practised following a set of instructions, understanding their purpose and identifying the key features of these. We then had the chance to make a magic potion and we used food colouring to change the colour of the water. Some of us mixed the colours to create different secondary colours, linking this to our knowledge in art! We added in beads, pompoms, sequins and feathers. We had lots of fun making these and then we could discuss what we did to make these. We have also been learning about how to make a sandwich and our favourite fillings. Now we can’t wait to get home and make a sandwich! Please help us to do this over the holidays.

We were also luckily enough to have Victoria Houghton, a local clay artist, come into school and teach us how to use clay and slip to make a model based upon nature, which is our theme in art.

We really enjoyed learning how to use balls of clay to make certain parts, making them into sausages and eggs to form them together to create our final product. We will be bringing these home and we can either leave them natural or we can paint these with poster or acrylic paint- another holiday task!

We have had lots of fun and really enjoyed ourselves!
