Reception Weekly Blog!
Welcome to the Reception blog!
A huge thank-you to you all for such a fantastic turn-out to our Parent Consultation evenings - it was so good to be able to share the progress that your children have been making and to hear their news from home!
This week we have been creating and repeating patterns using a wide range of resources and the children are getting very good at describing their patterns. We have also started to discuss our senses - this week focusing on the sense of touch. We have felt compost, cotton wool, jelly, cereal and ice cubes - we touched with one gloved hand and with one ordinary hand and noticed differences with the two hands, especially how much colder the ice cube felt in the hand without the glove!
After the half-term break, we will be celebrating the festival of Diwali and will also be thinking about firework safety. In our maths we will be exploring 2D and 3D shapes and it would be brilliant if, over the holiday break, the children could identify both solid and flat shapes in their home environment. They could then bring in their findings after the holiday and share them with their friends.
Have a great half-term break with your families and we look forward to seeing you all back in school on Tuesday 1st November 2016.
