In Reception, we have been enjoying our topic, ‘The Wonderful World of Books.’ Over these last few weeks, we have been reading lots of stories about dinosaurs....a topic which so many of the children love!
Last week, both reception classes spent three days in the woods at Bromham. We had the best time, and the weather was beautiful! The children loved exploring the woods, building dens, climbing trees and hunting for characters such as the Gruffalo and the Big Bad Wolf!
This term in Reception, our new topic is 'The wonderful world of Books! We will be having a new key text each week to base our learning around. Our first book was the popular children's story, 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'.
Last week, Reception enjoyed their very first outdoor learning experience. Even the weather was kind to us for most of the three days!
The children took part in a variety of different activities each morning.
This half term we have been reading non-fiction texts about animals that live in the woods. So far, we have learned about owls, foxes and bats. Last week we learned all about hedgehogs! We found out so many interesting facts about these cute little creatures. We even found out that they can swim!
Last Friday was Children in Need day. The children in reception enjoyed coming to school in their 'Strictly Come Dancing' themed outfit. There was certainly lots of sparkles - even on some of the children's faces!
This week we had a tennis coach in to visit us. We were so lucky with the weather and the rain managed to hold off until we had finished! Each class took it in turns to have a lesson with the coach.
This term in Reception, our topic is 'The Wonderful World of Books!' We will be using a key text each week during the summer term from a variety of different authors to base our learning around.
This week, reception have enjoyed learning outside for three mornings. We were so proud of all the children as they were able to adapt their routine and enjoyed every moment, even when the weather wasn't that kind to us and we found ourselves out in the rain!
