Week commencing Monday 27th March 2017
Welcome to the last Reception blog of the Spring Term!
This week we have had the excitement of seeing a crane deliver two new temporary classrooms on to our playground! We have also finished our bean diaries and Dragonflies have kindly set the beans out for us. The children have worked particularly hard this week on 3D shape and using maths vocabulary to describe their properties as well as likening shapes to real objects in the environment. We have also explored which shapes roll or slide and those that can do both.
When we return after the Easter holiday break we will begin our new topic, 'Out of the Egg' and we wil be asking the children to tell us which animals come out of an egg. Our book focus will be 'The Odd Egg' by Emily Gravett. In mathematics we will be focusing on pattern.
Over the Easter break could you please encourage your children to keep up with their reading and sound books. Also, creating patterns with your children would be a great introduction to their maths when they return to school. Please bring in their work so we can celebrate together!
